Single-family housing construction hits 10-year high

U.S. Census reports 1.297 million single-family home starts in November--the best numbers since the onset of the Great Recession Plagued by historically low inventory, the construction industry rallied in November with the construction of 1.297 million single-family homes, a 10-year high, according to U.S. Census Bureau data released Tuesday. The 12.9-percent year-over-year increase in housing starts follow hard on the heels of gains made in October , when single-family home construction rose to 1.256 million units in the aftermath of powerful hurricanes over the summer that slowed activity in Texas and Florida.
